        CSA Produce Shares

      About Produce Shares

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as a customer.  Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become "members" of Good Earth Farm who receive a portion of the farm's harvest.

Our CSA runs for 20 weeks, from mid-June to late October, with an option to receive an additional week of produce in mid-November.

During each week of the Mid-West’s peak growing season, you’ll receive a variety of fresh seasonal produce from the farm.  You will have the opportunity to try numerous varieties of vegetables, including some herbs and fruits.  Different times of the growing season offer different types of vegetables.  A list of the produce you may see in your weekly share and the time of the season you'll receive it is on our produce page.

The quantity in each box varies with the seasons.  Early in the season expect your box to be lighter with the vegetables of spring and early summer.  By mid/late summer the summer fruiting crops appear and add more variety to the box.  Autumn boxes reflect what is happening in the fields and bring root and frost hardy crops.  There will be plenty of those vegetables that you are familiar with plus some that are new and unique to your table.

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week.  The quantity of produce, however, may vary from week-to-week due to extreme weather, insects, or other productions factors despite our best efforts.  By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members.  In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows:  If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product in some weeks (this has never happened on our farm).

When crops are especially abundant, we pack as much as possible into your share.  However, we don't want to overwhelm our members or deliver so much produce that it goes to waste.  When we feel that members have received enough of certain crops, we will handle the surplus by setting extras out at pick-up sites for members to take or donating to local food pantries.

Sample Boxes for the Standard Produce Share - Typical Contents & Amounts

We've compiled the examples below to give you an idea of what to expect and when for our Standard Produce Share.  While we plan for the quantities and dates shown on the chart below, actual amounts and dates will vary based on the weather and the season. Each season is different; certain crops may be abundant one year and less in another.  The quantities listed below represent approximate amounts received for the weekly Standard Produce Share during an average year. Typically, we plan to include 8 to 12 different items per Standard Share box.  GEF does not guarantee a minimum amount for any single crop.

      Small Produce Share:

Once a week mid-June through October

Like the Standard Produce Share, the Small Produce Share is a 20 week delivery for folks who want produce on a weekly basis but want less than the Standard Share offers (Contents in the Small Share are about 70% of the Standard Share.) This share is expected to meet most of the produce needs of 1 - 2 people eating a diverse diet, or vegetable light households.

Once a week August through mid-October

The Peak Season Share is a 12 week delivery beginning at the height of Wisconsin’s growing season in August and continuing through October.  This share is packaged the same as the Standard Share only beginning later in the season.
