Worker Shares Besides worker shares, the farm also has openings for paid seasonal work for the 2010 season. See Employment Opportunities for more details. What is a worker share? In exchange for your share of produce, you agree to work on the farm. Worker Share members make a serious commitment to be at the farm each week at the agreed upon day and time. The jobs can be demanding and repetitive. This is physical labor and will require lifting. We work in all types of weather, too. So, if it is raining, you are still needed on the farm. Worker shares are quite important to the farm. Expect to gain a wonderful connection with your farm and the farmers. How many weeks and hours will I be working? The standard worker share will work a total of 20 weeks for 4 hours per week beginning in June and ending in October. This is a serious commitment for both you and the farm. When deciding if a worker share is for you, please ask yourself if you can fulfill this commitment for the entire season. What are the work days and hours? Typical worker share hours are 8:00 - 12:00, Monday through Thursday. You will choose a work day and come throughout the season on that same day and time. We have a limited number of worker shares available, and some days fill up before others. What type of work will I be doing? Harvesting, weeding, possibly some planting, packing, and / or washing. The day that you work will depend on the type of work you'll do. Again, expect lifting to be part of the job. What if I miss work due to illness ,vacation, or other? If you miss a work shift, we do expect you to make up the lost hours. There are a few different options that we can discuss if this happens. May I job share with another member of my family or someone who I am splitting my share with? We'd prefer to see the same smiling face each week as we often get into a comfortable routine and the workers become familiar with their jobs. If you want to job share with just one other person we can work with that, as long as that person can work the same shift. May I bring my children and dog along with me while I work? Although we love children and dogs, they should not come to the farm with you during your scheduled working time. If your children are over the age of 12, we can discuss it. The work is demanding and not geared for young children. There are opportunities for children to come to the farm though. Throughout the season we have farm events for the entire family to enjoy. So, you've decided to work on the farm. What now? Email or call Nicole at the farm with your request and any questions that you may have.
